 The silent sports car After the take over of Bentley by Rolls-Royce the British engineers created the sporty Derby Bentley. Elegance, sports performance and easy handling were the attributes of this new car. The further development of the 3 1/2 litre car was more harmonious and powerful.
For an extra £50 a 4 1/4 litre engine was offered from March 1936 as an option to the already well received Bentley 3 1/2 Litre chassis. Within a short period sales of the 3 1/2 Litre declined and in fact the Bentley 4 1/4 Litre had become its substitute.
